Ethical and Sustainable - what are we doing?

How are your beans sourced?
We have partnered with a supplier who is compliant with upholding the principles of the Modern Day Slavery Act 2018 in selecting growers. Whilst it is almost impossible to guarantee every part of the sourcing process to be compliant in all countries, our supplier qualifies the wholesalers and growers against the Modern Day Slavery guidelines. Our supplier also works more broadly in the some of the communities they source beans from, in particular areas of Papua New Guinea (refer to our blog on our Ethical and Sustainable focus - March 2022) to give back to the communities through contribution to economic and educational development.
Carbon Conscious Roasting - what do we mean by this?
Our roasting partner uses a unique, patented process for roasting beans. The process involves using coffee grounds as the fuel for the roaster as opposed to the more common fuel of gas. The carbon emissions are far less as a result - more information to come on this soon.
What does sustainable packaging mean?
Simply put, sustainability in packaging means making choices that positively affect the environmental footprint of our packaging, from raw material to production and transport, to the possibility of it being repurposed or reused at the end of its life. At MOA, we are committed to making all parts of our supply chain sustainable, and we have focused on our packaging as the first focus in our production.
Recyclable or compostable? What is what at MOA?
Achieving sustainability in packaging has it's challenges, namely due to quality and supply limitations. We didn't want to compromise on quality or sustainability, so, inevitablity it took some time to find suppliers that were a fit for us. Our coffee bags are home compostable.
What packaging do you use that is compostable?
There are 2 forms of packaging that we use that can be put into your home compost - our coffee bags and our mailer bags. These bags are made from a majority of plant-based materials, are carbon negative in production, have a shelf life of 6-18 months and are able to be composted in an organic waste stream (worm farms or other composting systems).
What packaging do you use that is recyclable?
Outside our coffee and mailer bags, everything else we use is made from 100% recyclable materials. This includes our boxes and our protection wrap internally as well as our marketing materials.

GENERAL

How do I know which coffee to purchase?
The taste profiles will help you with your selection. We also have “Duo packs” which allow you to try a couple of different blends so you can determine which one you prefer.
Can you grind my beans for me?
Yes, we provide an option for ground coffee. Pick the appropriate grind for your machine from a fine grind (Espresso) to a coarse grind (Plunger).
Do you offer one off gift packs?
Yes, please see our selection under “Gift Packs” in the main menu.

SUBSCRIPTIONS

When will I receive my first order?
Your order will be placed and shipped within 48 hours of your purchase of your subscription. From there it will continue at the frequency of your selection.
How can I make changes to my subscription?
You can modify your subscription at any time including the blend, bag size, frequency, delivery address or payment details (for home subscriptions) through your subscription login by following the steps below. This will change all upcoming orders.

  • Click the ‘Manage Subscription’ button at the bottom of the page.
  • Click the "Subscriptions" tab from the top menu.
  • Select your product.
  • Select from the options on what changes you would like to make.
Can I pause my subscription?
Absolutely. Your next order date can be changed in your login, all you need to do is select the date you would like your subscription to restart, and it will be paused until then. Log in to your MOA Coffee Co. account here.
  • Click the ‘Manage Subscription’ button at the bottom of the page.
  • Click the "Subscriptions" tab from the top menu.
  • Select your subscription product.
  • Select the "Next Order" option and select a date to restart.
  • Select "Update Next Order Date"
Can I skip a delivery?
Sure can.
  • Log in to your MOA Coffee Co. account here.
  • Click the ‘Manage Subscription’ button at the bottom of the page.
  • Click the "Subscriptions" tab from the top menu.
  • Select your subscription product.
  • At the bottom of the page select the "Skip This Order" link.
  • Your deliveries will resume at the normal frequency after this skipped order.
How do I change my delivery frequency schedule?
This can be adjusted for all Home Coffee Subscriptions.
  • Log in to your MOA Coffee Co. account here.
  • Click the ‘Manage Subscription’ button at the bottom of the page.
  • Click the "Subscriptions" tab from the top menu.
  • Select your subscription product.
  • Click "Order Frequency".
  • Select the frequency you want and click "Update Frequency".
All following deliveries will now be updated to your selected delivery schedule.
How do I change my payment details?
  • Log in to your MOA Coffee Co. account here.
  • Click the "Billing Information" tab from the top menu.
  • Click ‘Send Email to Update"
  • A secure email will be sent to you to change the details.
How can I unsubscribe?
You can unsubscribe at any time, we doubt you’ll want to! You can do this through your customer login here. Your last charge will be for your last shipped order, if we've already processed your order and it’s on its way, it will stop from thereafter.
